The traditional laptop manufactures better watch out. ASUS has taken over the Netbook market with their slim, sleek, ever-lasting line of Netbooks and now they are gunning for control of the laptop market with the ASUS UL30A-X5 which has just been released. It has one characteristic which sets it apart from all of the other laptops available.

Last week I had to take a flight from California to New York. On this flight, which I do far too often, I like to get some work done, watch a movie or two, and maybe play some games on my laptop. This flight takes approximately 5 hours.

Specifications: These laptops are two of my favorite laptop model for the past year. The Apple MacBook MC207LL/A is a full-featured 13.3-inch laptop while the Asus UL30A-X5 is a sleek ultra-thin model. Both these models have very strong selling points and I would definitely have a very hard time if I had to choose to buy either one. The Apple model has a 2.26Ghz processor, 2GB of DDR3 Ram and 250GB for storage. The Asus model on the other hand comes with a 1.3Ghz processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 500GB of storage. Although the Apple laptop has a more powerful processor, the ample storage and RAM on the Asus model more than makes up for it. If you don’t perform a lot of heavy computing tasks on your laptop (such as running heavy applications), the specs on the Asus machine would prove to be more than sufficient.

Both 13.3-inch laptop models are currently some of the hottest ultra-slim laptop models on the market. The Asus UL30A-X5 is a little stronger than the Toshiba Satellite S1310-T135, but overall they are interchangeable models for the average laptop users.

The Toshiba Satellite S1310-T135 comes with an Intel Pentium Processor SU4100 (1.3 GHz), 4GB RAM and 320GB of storage. The Asus UL30A-X5 the other hand, on an Intel IntelCore 2 Duo SU7300 processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 500 GB of storage. Both models feature an HD display with the same resolution (1366 x 768). Both models also come with 3 USB ports, an HDMI output, a memory card reader. That's where the similarity ends.
